Linder NYFW Show With The Amazing Dick Page
15th Sep 2017
When Dick Page is keying a look, you know it is going to be incredible. The makeup legend, who is a backstage fixture at New York Fashion Week, has painted the faces of countless supermodels and A-list celebrities. When we found out he would be keying the Linder SS'18 show, which Mehron was sponsoring, it was like a dream come true! We couldn't wait to see what this amazing artist had planned to complement the edgy, skin-baring designs that comprised Linder's latest collection. What Page created was bold, but natural - the perfect makeup pairing for all the pieces.
For Page, the look was about "the feeling of seeing a lot of skin, seeing the girls with freckles and seeing a little shadow in the eye and just looking very, very natural. And the collection, it's quite rocky, some of it's quite tough, some of it's sort of more diaphanous and simple, so, the girl has to live in all these worlds, so they all have the stick straight, super, super ironed hair. The black lip is a very aggressive kind of thing that you usually put when you think about goth and like, that hard rock, kind of, death metal kind of thing, but then in this context with the fresh skin and the very, very clean look . . . it just gives it a kind of a different edge."
Lips
A black lip is the center of the look. "The black lip is a very aggressive kind of look, but in this context with the fresh, very clean looking skin it just gives it a different kind of edge," says Page. To achieve this worn lip look, Page applied L.I.P Cream in Noir. He then blotted then used E.Y.E. Liner Pencil in Black to get more weight into the corners and bow of the lip. To soften the edges, but make sure the shape remained, he then diffused the product with a soft brush. This is the debut of Noir L.I.P Cream. What did Page think of it? "An actual black lip that works!"
Face
Page kept the complexion simple. "I wanted to create the feeling of seeing a lot of skin - seeing the girls with freckles and just looking very, very natural," said Page. No concealer was used under the eyes, instead he applied Celebré Pro HD Cream Foundation 12 Color Contour/Highlight Palette to lightly conceal any imperfections. "It's super adaptable, blendable," says Page. The L.I.P Color Cream Palette in Day was used to create a custom blush shade that was lightly brushed across the nose and apples of cheeks.
Eyes: Page wanted to see a little shadow in the eye for a more natural look. So, he applied Glosstone in Natural on the lid, starting in the corner and along the lash line. Then he applied a dot of L.I.P Cream in Noir to the center of the lid. "The cream consistency allows the color to almost melt away to nothing," says Page.
