Meet the Winner of the Spring #NextFaceofMehron Contest

We kicked off our Spring Face of Mehron Instagram contest to find an artist who could combine the two makeup worlds of Beauty and Performance into one stunning spring themed makeup look. All of you Mehron Boys and Girls who competed made it extremely difficult to select a winner. The creativity and care that went into each entry was utterly inspiring. But, ultimately, we had to choose . . .  and the winner is Lisa Marie Murphy. This Mehron Girl took Teal to the next level, and her inclusion of real flowers truly had us feeling spring vibes.

Learn more about the talented Lisa Marie Murphy, who is also a past Mehron 31 Days of Halloween daily winner, and what inspired her submission.

Mehron: Where are you from?

Lisa: I was born and raised in San Diego, California where it’s sunny 365 days a year. Ironically, I spend all my time in my studio, so I hardly ever enjoy it :)

Mehron: Are you a self taught artist? If not where did you study?

Lisa: My foundation as an artist was nurtured while working at MAC Cosmetics. Through MAC I learned how to apply makeup and gained the fundamentals of working in the beauty industry. Body painting is relatively new for me, I’ve been doing it for only couple of years now. When I decided to give it try, I had no idea the journey it would take me on and how much I would love it!

Mehron: What artists inspire you?

Lisa: That is a really difficult question because there are so many! I love illusion makeup and can’t get enough of Mimi Choi (@mimles), Ana (@cedoviste), these ladies are mind blowing. I feel Jen Dean (@miss_stryx) is an absolutely incredible SFX Artist! @butterflyjasmine49, @sum.makeup, @Alexandra_bastien, @kellyjurado, @e_creative1 all are so amazing, and I have so many more! Wish I had the space here to share them all!

Mehron: Where do you find inspiration for your art?

Lisa: From all over! The colors and textures I can find by just observing nature are limitless. Reading magazines, even watching Netflix! Inspiration is everywhere!

Mehron: How did you come up with your winning look?

Lisa: I wanted my look to be colorful, so I started with my base color, which was Paradise Makeup AQ in Teal. I was actually inspired by the color! I knew I was going to incorporate a fairy vibe to it as well. In the end, I just started to paint and let the inspiration guide me. Adding some real flowers to it made the look complete. I really love it!

Mehron: Do you have any words of wisdom for our Mehron girls and boys for the future Next Face of Mehron contests?

Lisa: Take pictures of things that inspire you, this way you can pull from your resources. Create a vision board and incorporate the pictures along with color palettes. I even recently started to sketch my looks out. This has been somewhat challenging as I’m not a sketch artist, but it’s totally transformed my approach on how I now execute a look! Giving me a way to see it all prior to picking up a brush has made me a far more confident artist.

Mehron: Mehron has always combined the two worlds of beauty and performance, what about that speaks to you?

Lisa: Mehron is a brand that represents both sides of my personality, inspiring me to blend the two and create without any limitations. It is a company that encourages an artist’s creativity, and they provide all of the tools to achieve whatever the imagination is capable of conceiving.

Mehron: What are your absolute favorite Mehron products and why?

Lisa: My favorite products are definitely the Paradise Paints. I use them in virtually every look I do. There is an incredible array of colors to choose from. They apply effortlessly, contain conditioning ingredients that are good for the skin, and I can’t forget to mention that they smell sooo good!
