Trends, Tips & Techniques at The Makeup Show NYC
10th May 2017
Industry pros packed the Metropolitan Pavilion this week for The Makeup Show NYC. In case you missed it, here's a Mehron behind the scenes look at the trends, tips, and techniques from the show.
Flawless Skin Secrets
Celebrity makeup artist, and key artist for the Wendy Williams Show, Merrell Hollis, took to the stage for Mehron's Flawless Skin Finish seminar. He shared his tips for creating a fabulous complexion. Here are some key takeaways:
- Moisturize where needed with Cara Moisturizer, but not under eye so as not to affect the concealer.
- Follow with Skin Prep Pro. It is a great moisture barrier and mattifies skin blemishes. Be sure to apply by the hairline to protect the makeup from hair products.
- Apply Primed Eye Primer on the lid. Using a brush, also apply it to the lower lash line, which helps enhance a smokey eye. Allow time for the primer to set.
- Merrell's best friend is orange! He loves to use the Tangerine and Salamander hues from our Correct-It palette to cover skin blemishes and discolorations.
- Highlight with a color two to three shades lighter than your natural skin tone.
- Don't forgot to apply product to the ears so that they blend in with your foundation.
- Mix in Aura Bronzing Gel with your foundation for a beautiful glow.
- Set with Celebré Pro-HD Loose Mineral Finishing Powder, which lets the skin show through but keeps everything in place.

Body Art Techniques
Award-winning body artist and co-creator of our Paradise Makeup AQ line, Jinny, kept things lively on the Mehron stage with her bodypainting demos - they were a show stopper! Passersby paused at the booth to take in her techniques and snap photos of her colorful creations. Jinny shared some application tips, such as:
- Use one brush per color
- The more you mix Paradise Makeup AQ, the more creamier the consistency
- Fully load your brush from the tip to the metal

What's Hot
When those in the know shop, we get a pulse on what's hot. Our top sellers give an idea of what's trending now.
NEW Celebré Pro-HD Correct-It
This powerful correcting palette, which made it's NYC debut at the show, sold out. With Correct-It you can quickly and easily erase skin discolorations and blemishes.
Rose Gold Metallic Powder
This soft, shimmery shade looks good on all skin types - and is the perfect addition to your summer makeup kit. Wear Metallic Powder alone for subtle, sheer color, or combine with our Mixing Liquid to create the intense color of real metals.
Skin Prep Pro
With the warm weather approaching, it is no wonder this magic in a bottle was a top seller. Skin Prep Pro acts as a moisture barrier between skin and makeup so you look fresher, longer. Just sponge on lightly, allow to dry, then apply your makeup.
TouchUp Matte Finishing Anti-Shine Gel
The desire to be shine free was strong. We also sold out of TouchUp Matte Finishing Anti-Shine Gel in Medium and Dark. Merrell Hollis tells us he used this product on Diddy for the Met Gala.
Celebré Pro-HD Cream Foundation 20-Color Palette
The pros know you need a good foundation palette. Our Celebré Pro-HD Cream Foundation 20-Color Palette houses all our satin-smooth, buildable beauty shades in one convenient, refillable kit.
Create Your Own 12-Color Paradise Makeup AQ Palette
Paradise is always a popular product with body painters. Picking your own colors to create a customized 12-Color Paradise Makeup AQ Palette was definitely a hit at the show.
