Meet M Blackburn, a 23-year-old cosplayer, illustrator, and makeup artist. They have been working professionally in makeup since they were 15 years old and currently freelance for various companies. Their love for cartoons and animation is evident in their work, and they draw inspiration from drag makeup and special effects.

When asked how they got into using makeup in cosplay, M Blackburn revealed that they started cosplaying at 14 years old, and immediately jumped into body paint with zero experience. They learned quickly by watching tutorials on YouTube and Tumblr and landed their first job at a haunted house a year later.

The first Mehron product M Blackburn purchased was the Mehron’s Paradise Makeup AQ, which they fell in love with because of its coverage and how it felt on their skin. They went on to purchase other colors for their various cosplays. They also fell in love with Barrier Spray, which holds their makeup for hours, even during long conventions.

Paradise remains their favorite product due to the variety of colors and ease of use, but they're quickly growing fond of EDGE Face and Body Makeup because of its opaqueness and consistency.

When it comes to creativity, M draws inspiration from animation and music, as well as their talented friends and other creators in the community. They believe in prioritizing connection over competition and learning from others.

As an artist, M Blackburn has faced challenges like hate and jealousy on the internet. They have developed a thick skin and learned to take unkindness with a grain of salt. They also improve their skill set using makeup.
