Mehron Makeup Takes On New York Comic Con 2022
12th Oct 2022
Mehron Makeup took on their first year at NYCC and was the official
sponsor of Cosplay Central! They had live bodypainting demos all weekend
by professional makeup artist Nix Herrera (@nix_artistry) who recently
won an Emmy for Outstanding Prosthetic Makeup on Stranger Things. Nix
was on the team of artists that created the villain of last season,
Vecna.
There were also special guests on Thursday from Terror Haunt Times
Square that created a zombie SFX makeup by airbrushing Liquid Makeup
with Mixing Liquid and then of course lots of blood!
On Friday, Nix created a full Catwoman body paint using Liquid Latex mixed with Black Liquid Makeup! He used a paint roller to roll the mixture onto model Kirsten Jaskela (@artsy_kj) layer by layer until the latex thickened and created a shiny suit like material. Once complete, she transformed into a Michelle Pfeiffer Catwoman doppelganger. Most attendees shopped Mehron on Friday to get some last-minute additions for their weekend cosplays, while others were curious in our colorful makeup displays!
Saturday, Mehron held a panel for Cosplay Makeup 101 which included panel members Nonbinate, Cowbutt Crunchies Cosplay, Cheesecake Panda Cosplay, Nix Herrera, and Michelle Foard. They discussed the dos and don’ts of Cosplaying with body paint for a crowd of attendees. They also touched on the best hacks for keeping the makeup on all day, as well as personal favorite products and experiences. This brought down many customers to the Mehron booth to try out cosplay makeup for the first time after hearing from the pros how to get started. Saturday also included another full Liquid Latex and Liquid Makeup body paint by Nix Herrera with model Michelle Foard (@michellefoard) as Harley Quinn!
Sunday was a hit with an Eddie Munson Stranger Things body paint using
Paradise Makeup AQ and EDGE. Fans of the show gathered around as they
watched Nix Herrera transform model Margi DeMatteo (@margidematteo) into
a rock and roll fan favorite straight from the 80’s, sporting a
painted-on Hellfire Club t-shirt and jeans. Throughout the weekend, tons
of attendees stopped to take photos of the live demos, shop the booth,
inquire about products, or get photos with the models! Mehron’s booth
was nothing less than eye catching and show stopping the entire weekend
at New York Comic Con 2022!
